Badminton Court Flooring: Choosing the Right System

Badminton is unforgiving on flooring. Players make hundreds of explosive lateral movements per match, and the wrong surface will cost you in injuries and replacement costs.

Sprung wooden floors remain the gold standard for tournament venues — they offer the best shock absorption and a premium feel underfoot. However, they require strict humidity control and regular refinishing.

Vinyl roll surfaces (typically 4.5–6mm) are the workhorse choice for clubs and academies. They are quick to install, easy to maintain, and meet BWF certification standards when chosen from reputable brands.

Polyurethane coatings are gaining traction for multi-purpose halls. They deliver excellent grip, can be re-coated rather than replaced, and accept any line marking for shared use with futsal, basketball and volleyball.
