Sports Flooring Installation: 7 Best Practices We Live By

1. Test the moisture content of every concrete slab — even ones the contractor swears are dry. Vinyl and PU systems will fail catastrophically if installed over damp substrates.

2. Acclimatise the materials on site for 48 hours minimum so they reach equilibrium with the room's temperature and humidity.

3. Use the manufacturer's recommended adhesive — never substitute. We have rescued projects where contractors used the wrong glue and had to rip up perfectly good flooring.

4. Roll seams with a 50kg roller in two directions. This single step prevents 90% of edge-lift failures.

5. Cure for the full recommended time before moving heavy equipment back in.

6. Document the install with timestamped photos at every stage. Clients love it and it protects you in warranty discussions.

7. Hand over a written maintenance plan. A floor that is cared for will outlast its warranty by years.
